Over time, you start to notice patterns in the calls that come in. At first it’s occasional. Then it becomes regular. More people needing heavier moves, larger vehicles, equipment, or jobs that don’t fit neatly into a single category.

That’s what pushed us to add a flat deck to the fleet.

The new truck is rated at 32,000 GVW, which gives us the ability to move things properly instead of forcing a job to work with the wrong setup. It’s the difference between doing a move carefully and having to improvise. For us, that matters.

We’re based on Vancouver Island and cover Nanaimo, Parksville, Ladysmith, and surrounding areas. A lot of work here involves uneven ground, tight access, and situations where conditions change quickly. Having a flat deck means we can handle larger trucks, equipment, containers, and specialty loads without cutting corners.

The flat deck doesn’t replace what we already do. It adds to it.

We still run a wrecker, and the two trucks together give us flexibility. Some calls need raw pulling power. Others need a stable deck and proper tie down points. Some need both. With the flat deck and the wrecker available, we can choose the right approach instead of forcing one solution onto every job.

Recovery work is a good example. There are times when a single truck isn’t enough. Being able to run both trucks on a 4×4 recovery gives us more control and reduces the risk of damage. That’s better for the vehicle and safer for everyone involved.

Not every call is big or complicated, though. A lot of what we do is still the simple stuff that just needs to be handled quickly. Lockouts. Fuel delivery. Vehicles that won’t start when you’re already running late. Those calls matter just as much, and we’re set up for those too.

Adding equipment isn’t about showing off or expanding for the sake of it. It’s about answering the phone and knowing we can actually help, even when the job doesn’t fit into a neat category.

Some days that means moving a heavy truck. Other days it means unlocking a car or bringing fuel to someone stuck on the side of the road. The work changes. The goal doesn’t.

Be available. Be equipped. Do the job properly.
